Free Dirt Friday — October 2, 2026
Three current commercial project signals. No hype, no pretending a permit is a bid.
Each item below comes from a DibDirt-supported official public source and was present in DibDirt's current production project store this week. The public record can tell you that activity exists. Unless the source explicitly says otherwise, it does not tell you that a subcontract is open, unawarded, or available to bid.
Target T1518 RTU HVAC Replacement — Orlando, Florida
Verified source facts: City of Orlando Permitting Services Division record MEC2026-13188 is a mechanical permit application for "TARGET T1518 RTU HV AC REPLACEMENT" at 4750 Millenia Plaza Way, Orlando. DibDirt's current source record shows a reported valuation of $180,000, a registration date of September 18, 2026, and source status Open.
What is unknown: The permit record does not establish that HVAC procurement is open, that an RTU subcontract remains unawarded, or that the owner/GC is currently soliciting bids. Treat it as a sales-research signal, then verify the contracting path before outreach.
Emergency Gas Repair at Nursing Home — Austin, Texas
Verified source facts: City of Austin Development Services Department record 2026-125538 PP is an issued plumbing construction permit at 6500 Brush Country Rd, Austin. The public scope states: "Emergency gas repairs - facility gas is currently shut off. This is a nursing home." DibDirt's stored source record shows registration and scheduled-start dates of September 23, 2026 and source status Active.
What is unknown: An issued permit and emergency repair scope strongly indicate real plumbing activity, but they do not prove there is an open subcontract opportunity. The work may already be assigned or underway.
400A Wireway for Future Tenant Improvement — Austin, Texas
Verified source facts: City of Austin Development Services Department record 2026-126140 EP is an issued electrical construction permit at 4301 W William Cannon Dr, Austin. The recorded scope says a 400 amp wireway is being installed for a future tenant improvement. DibDirt's current source record shows a registration date of September 24, 2026, scheduled start of September 28, 2026, and source status Active.
What is unknown: The permit is evidence of current electrical work and a stated future tenant-improvement context. It does not prove that future electrical work is open for bidding, who controls procurement, or whether the same contractor will perform later phases.
How to use this dirt
Do not call and ask, "Can I bid this permit?" Start by identifying the owner, GC, property manager, tenant, or design team connected to the project, then verify whether the relevant trade package is still addressable. DibDirt is designed to surface the signal early enough that a contractor can do that research before the project becomes obvious everywhere else.
